I worked with BBC News Labs to create a broadcast product on our platform that would send users a simple daily news digest every morning.

The offering would evolve and grow over time. Most recently, we crafted a solution that would deliver deep dives on particular topics, starting with Brexit and the climate crisis.

The product also took in user questions for BBC journalists, and was apparently quite an effective utility for doing so. “More than half the bot subscribers asked at least one follow-up question. The majority of questions were high quality, genuine requests, with little of the abuse you'd get with the same request on a social network.”

The BBC experience currently exchanges millions of messages every month with an extremely engaged and growing audience. They continue to work with Dexter on new initiatives, like experimenting with VUI, and distributing hyperlocal news to new audiences.
