Born out of betaworks’ Hacker in Residence program in 2015, Dexter was founded by myself and technical co-founder. We graduated out of the program in early 2016, and raised $2.3mm in seed capital in August of the same year.

In Dexter’s early years — when we were just a team of three — I led the product and experience design of the platform. Working with beta testers, early customers and our engineering leads, I developed and refined the feature set for our users using Lean methodology, constantly iterating and improving on the product as both our team and user base grew.

In addition to the product side, I created Dexter’s early identity, crafting a nimble system that would resonate with our users and be scalable for everything from product, to digital marketing, to investor and sales collateral.

As we grew out our design team, I oversaw the development of a brand refresh that relaunched us to the world with a truly flexible system that would work not only for the core platform, but also for microproducts we would be rolling out over the course of 2018 and 2019.

In addition to my product responsibilities, I also spearheaded Dexter’s brand and agency partnership growth. I led workshops with companies to evaluate their business use cases for our product, and then later helped them design the creative solutions to help solve those problems.

Over the course of my career at Dexter, we grew revenue 3x year over year, built an incredible engineering and design team, powered activations for dozens of Fortune 500 companies, hosted the platform for tens of thousands of loving users, and served millions of end users tens of millions of messages. We gained critical recognition for the platform, and I’m incredibly proud of what we built in my time there.
